The famous Pont [bridge] d'Avignon, more correctly known as the Pont Ste. Bénezet.
For many centuries it actually crossed the river (much more useful as a bridge if it does cross the river)
but it needed frequent repairs and rebuildings so it was abandoned in around 1668.
Only four of the original 22 arches remain.
