The arène at Nîmes is the largest roman coliseum still in regular use.

It is the venue for, among other things, bullfighting, French style, meaning that the bull isn't actually killed in the ring. (Some people think it's more humane, but I suspect that the bull, spared in the ring, heads off to the packer next)
